The traveling trader is an NPC that the player has a chance of encountering during their travels. There is no indication on the map of where the trader may be, but with increased perception, there is a greater chance of discovering him. At the start of the excursion, traders are randomly scattered on the map. When the player comes within a certain range of a trader, they enter the trading screen. With increased perception, the range becomes greater. Typically, the travelling trader does not carry items like med packs, but carries items such as metal, sniper rifles, and things of the sort. This means that cans of food and bottles of water cannot be bought from the trader. They have a limited number of caps much like the trader back at the camp, but they often have a lower amount. The trader has a chance of being encountered after the "Pick a Path" event.
